Final Assessment:
Students will create a book
Requirements:
- All pages must have a neat and appropriate picture.
- The cover will have the words, "Needs and Wants."
- The first page will describe the difference between needs and wants.
- The second page will have a list of all of the needs. Students can look at the posters made from Lesson 2 to refresh their memory. This page does not have to have pictures.
- The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth page describes each need and why it's important.
- The seventh page will explain one choice a person can make about a need or want and why they would make that choice.
- The eighth page will say how the student can help someone else that may not have a need. The student may use the page created from lesson 5 for this page.
- The last page, students can write anything else that they got out of or learned from this unit.
Differentiation:
- For struggling writers, they do not have to create the last page.
- Provide a written handout of the directions with highlights or underline under the significant parts of the directions
- Advanced readers should be able to write multiple sentences for each page.
- For struggling writers, provide them with sentence prompts for each page.
Checklist:
- Are all of the requirements met?
- Do all sentences have proper grammar and punctuation?
- Is the artwork neat and appropriate?
