Lesson 1: What are Wants and Needs
Assessment: Check that students appropriately sort and glue the picture cards under the right column of needs or wants on their worksheet.
Lesson 2: What are the Different Types of Needs?
Assessment: Check that students express their knowledge about a type of need through their skit performance and that they participated in creating and performing the skit.
Lesson 3: How Would You Feel If...
Assessment: Journal entry where students will be rated on the quality of their ideas about what choice their character that was assigned to them had to make in the story and why.
Lesson 4: Fly Away Home
Assessment: Journal entry where students will be assessed on the clarity of their thoughts and reasons, correct grammar and punctuation, and improvement from their previous writing.
Lesson 5: How Can I Help?
Assessment: Students will draw a picture and write a sentence about how they think they can help someone that may not have a need. Students will be rated on the neatness and appropriateness of their picture, and correct grammar and punctuation.
Final Assessment
Students will create a book to express their knowledge regarding the essential questions.
